TEHRAN, May 19 (Mehr News
Agency) -- The Iranian film "From Afar" won the Silver Leopard
Award at the 3rd Acapulco International Film Festival, which is
awarded to the world's newcomer. The festival was held in the
southwestern Mexican seaport from April 30 to May 9.

Directed by Ramin Mohseni, "From Afar" narrates three stories of
life in Iran, which portray different circumstances. In each tale,
the young protagonist, played by Kurosh Tahami, journeys towards a
particular spiritual insight or emotion.
Jamshid Hashempur, Behnaz Jafari, Dariush Arjomand, Homayun
Ershadi, and Mahbubeh Bayat also star in the film.
The movie was nominated for the Best First Film Director Award at
the 24th Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran, in January
2006.
